Buckingham Group Contracting Ltd has won the Award for Natural and Cultural Heritage at the 2016 British Construction Industry Awards.
The inspirational winners of the 2016 British Construction Industry Awards were crowned in front of the industry on 12 October at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
The British Construction Industry Awards brought together over 1,200 industry leaders for a glittering evening of celebration, recognition and networking.
Ian McSeveney, Managing Director Civil Engineering for Buckingham Group stated, "Gloucester Gateway has been a ground breaking project to work on and we are delighted and naturally proud that the hard work and positive approach of the whole project team, including Westmorland, Glenn Howells, AFL and BWB has been recognised by this very deserved award".
New Civil Engineer's editor Mark Hansford commented: "Our winning projects are truly delivering for society. I know that every one of them has a great story to tell; that everyone is loved by the public or its end user. That's why the BCIA matters. We as an industry are delivering the projects the public wants. And we need to shout about these projects more."

About the BCI Awards
The British Construction Industry Awards were launched in 1987 by Thomas Telford Ltd, the publishing arm of the Institution of Civil Engineers, and New Civil Engineer magazine.
The object of the BCI Awards is to recognise excellence in the design, construction and delivery of buildings and civil engineering works. Overall excellence is at the heart of the rigorous judging process employed in the BCI Awards which each year assembles a judging panel of leading clients, designers, contractors and industry commentators to choose the winning projects.
Judging is not simply a matter of selecting projects which demonstrate the highest engineering or architectural merit. Decisions are made after consideration of the entire construction process from initial conception to final commissioning and use of the completed infrastructure in a timely and economic fashion, satisfying all the parties involved from the client to the community at large. Careful assessment of best practice, safety, sustainability and other key issues all come under the judges’ scrutiny.
The BCI Awards also present an award for the Prime Minister's Better Public Building, which was created to give recognition and encouragement to excellence in publicly funded buildings and infrastructure. This prestigious Award, sponsored by BIS and the Cabinet Office was presented for the first time in 2001. Judged under the rigorous processes of the BCI Awards, the PM’s Award 2016 is open to buildings and infrastructure projects of any size commissioned by or on behalf of central or local government or by a grant-aided organisation. These projects have to be completed and come into use between 1 January 2015 and 31 January 2016.
