Buckingham Group Contracting Ltd has secured the accolade of Network Rail’s "Supplier of the Year" Award and winner of Best Project "Large".
The announcements were made during the prestigious, annual, Network Rail Partnership Awards Ceremony held on Wednesday 17th June. This is one of the key annual events for Network Rail and the contractors who work in the rail industry.
Network Rail has used several thousand suppliers over the past 6 years, and Buckingham Group Contracting is one its' the Top 20 infrastructure contracting suppliers. Whilst continuing great delivery and safety performance is the key factor, industry and client recognition through these awards is very important to developing and growing our £125m per annum rail business.
Buckingham had two shortlisted entries in two of the 11 Awards categories, and the results of the entries were as follows:
- Best Medium Sized (£3m to £20m) Project: Our Redditch Branch Enhancements project was one of 5 shortlisted entries and was Highly Commended.
- Best Large (>£20m) Project: Our Huyton to Roby project was again one of 5 shortlisted entries, and was the Award Winner .
The finale to the Awards event involved Mark Carne, NR Chief Executive, announcing the winner of Network Rail’s Supplier of the Year, selected from a short list of the companies who had won awards. The Buckingham team was delighted to hear our name announced as the selected Supplier of the Year. Whilst highlighted by the Redditch and Huyton to Roby projects, this award is in recognition of our rail business performance and collaborative approach as a whole.
The announcements made on the night were:
Supplier of the Year - Network Rail stated that "What's really important for us is safety, customer focus and the ability to be responsive and collaborative. That is why we have decided to award the Supplier of the Year 2015 to this company that has set high standards, a company that plays to its strengths. The Supplier of the Year 2015 is Buckingham Group Contracting Limited for the Huyton & Roby Capacity Improvement Scheme".
Best Project "Large" - Huyton & Roby Capacity Improvement Scheme The Huyton & Roby Capacity Project provided value for money train service improvements to facilitate economic growth across the North of England. This integrated, BIM, project enables non-stopping trains to pass stopping passenger services between Liverpool and Manchester and will provide lasting benefits for the rail network.
